We stock and install FAAC-compatible keypads and intercom modules across Henderson, with most replacements running between $340 and $680 installed, same-day in most cases. The part itself typically runs $120 to $310 depending on the model, and the rest is straightforward labor: pulling the old unit, checking the wiring, mounting the new one, and reprogramming your codes. Most Henderson homeowners discover the failure the way you probably just did: the keypad beeps but the gate ignores it, or the intercom rings inside but you can’t hear who’s out there, or the whole unit looks fine but eats codes for no reason. The desert doesn’t do favors to outdoor electronics, and FAAC keypads live in the worst of it: 110-degree afternoons, the occasional surprise downpour, and UV that can dull a keypad membrane in two summers flat.
What you’re dealing with is almost always fixable by part replacement, not a full system overhaul. And while FAAC makes a solid product, we’re an independent gate repair company in Henderson, not a FAAC dealer or affiliate. That means we can pull from OEM stock or quality aftermarket equivalents and give you a straight answer on which is actually worth your money. Cody Beckman, our owner, grew up in Los Angeles and spent nearly two decades working exclusively on gate systems, including the FAAC lines we see weekly in Henderson. He’ll be the first to tell you that most keypad “repairs” are really part replacement done carefully, and the difference in lifespan comes down to how the next part is sealed against the weather.
Which FAAC Models This Applies To
We work on the FAAC keypads and intercom modules you see on Henderson’s residential swing and slide gates, the units paired with the 400, 402, 412, 415, 422, 750, 770, E024, S418, S450, and C720 families. The compatibility gotcha most people never see coming: FAAC keypads communicate on either the RP433 or the SLH/RP868 frequency, and the two are not interchangeable. If your gate operator is a 433 MHz system and you buy a 868 MHz keypad because it was on sale, it simply will not talk to the board, and no amount of programming will fix it. Before buying anything, pop the cover on your existing keypad and read the label: it will say the frequency and usually the model, like an RP433DS or an XP20.
The other consideration is placement. Some FAAC intercom modules are built for direct sun, some are not, and Henderson’s southern exposure punishes the ones that aren’t. When we replace a unit, we look at how it failed. If the membrane is brittle and faded, the next one gets a model with a sealed, UV-rated cover, even if it costs $25 more. We’d rather install a part once. As for OEM versus aftermarket: FAAC’s OEM keypads are well made, and we keep common ones on the truck. For intercom handsets and modules, a good aftermarket equivalent from a supplier we trust often matches OEM reliability at 30 to 40 percent less. We’ll show you both prices and let you decide; the price is agreed before we touch anything.

Signs Your FAAC Keypad & Intercom Repair Is Failing
- The keypad lights up and beeps, but the gate won’t open. This usually means the keypad is transmitting but the receiver in the operator isn’t recognizing the signal, often from a failed transmitter chip inside the keypad itself or a frequency drift from heat exposure over several Henderson summers. We test the transmission first before condemning either part.
- Some numbers respond, others don’t, or you have to press a button three times to get one beep. The membrane contact sheet inside the keypad degrades unevenly, especially on the buttons that get the most sun exposure during the hottest part of the day. Once the membrane starts to go, the unit is on borrowed time.
- The intercom rings but the audio is garbled or cuts out. This often traces back to moisture intrusion at the speaker grill or a failing electrolytic capacitor in the audio module, not a wiring issue. We see it most after a winter storm blows rain sideways under a gate canopy.
- You enter the correct code and the gate opens, but now the code also opens a neighbor’s gate. This points to a failing encoder that is transmitting a sloppy or duplicated signal. It’s rare but real, and if you’re in a Henderson HOA with multiple FAAC installations close together, it can be a maddening one to chase down.
- The keypad stays lit long after you walk away, or it flickers in the evening. This is a moisture or heat issue at the control board level, and it can drain the keypad’s backup battery fast. The fix is usually replacing the internal board or the whole keypad rather than trying to salvage a water-damaged board.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Henderson, a FAAC keypad replacement typically lands between $340 and $560 installed, and a FAAC intercom module or handset swap runs $450 to $680 installed. The spread depends on whether you need the keypad only or the intercom module, which model you have, and whether we’re using an OEM FAAC part or a quality aftermarket equivalent. You’ll see the exact number in writing on the estimate before any work begins, with the part cost and labor broken out separately. That’s just how we work: no pressure, no mystery line items, and no work started until you’ve approved the price.
Every FAAC keypad or intercom replacement includes removal of the old unit, a wiring inspection at the connection point, installing and sealing the new part, reprogramming your access codes, and a test cycle or two to confirm the gate responds. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the work and the part. If it isn’t right within the year, Latch and Post makes it right, no argument. We also stock common FAAC keypads and intercom boards on the truck, so in most Henderson neighborhoods we can handle the swap in one visit. Our technicians are background-checked, uniformed, and factory-trained on FAAC alongside LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and the other brands we service.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s the honest split. You can safely check two things before calling: whether the keypad has power (look for the backlit display or a beep) and whether the problem is the keypad or the gate operator by testing the operator’s manual open function. Those two checks take five minutes and they tell us a lot on the phone. What we’d want you to avoid is pulling the keypad off the wall and probing the wiring inside while the operator is still powered. FAAC keypads run on low voltage, but the operator they’re wired into carries line voltage, and mixing up those connections can damage the control board, which turns a $400 keypad job into a $900 board replacement. If you’re not sure, don’t open the housing. That’s not gatekeeping, it’s just the truth. Call us at (775) 210-7739 and we’ll have a tech walk you through a quick diagnostic over the phone before we ever send anyone out. A gate that works quietly is one you stop thinking about, and that’s exactly the goal.
FAQs
A well-installed FAAC keypad lasts 5 to 8 years in the Henderson climate, with the biggest variables being sun exposure and whether the installer sealed the wiring entry behind the unit. Keypads on west-facing walls adjacent to unshaded concrete tend to fail at the membrane first, usually around year 5 or 6. Call (775) 210-7739 if yours is acting up, and we’ll diagnose it over the phone before you spend anything.
Rarely, and usually not worth the labor. Membrane failure, heat-drifted transmitters, and moisture-damaged boards can sometimes be patched, but the repair rarely lasts more than a season out here, and the labor to attempt it approaches half the cost of a clean replacement. That said, a wiring issue or corrosion at the connection point is often worth fixing, so we’ll tell you straight which situation you’re in before recommending anything. Estimates are free at (775) 210-7739.
Most keypad and intercom replacements take about an hour from start to finish, including removing the old unit, repairing any wiring damage, mounting the new part, and programming your codes. If we need to run a new low-voltage wire or adjust the intercom at the house side, expect closer to two hours. In Henderson, most of this work is same-day or next-day.
We keep common FAAC keypads including RP433 and SLH series models, along with compatible intercom boards and handsets, stocked on our trucks across Henderson. If your particular model is an oddball we don’t have on hand, we can usually have it in hand within two business days. Call (775) 210-7739 with your model number and we’ll confirm right then what’s available.
