We stock and install welded steel gate components that match Ghost Controls operator systems, with most weld repairs and reinforcement jobs in Henderson running between $180 and $420 installed depending on the bracket, hinge, or frame section involved. Most calls start the same way: the gate sags toward the latch side, the opener strains or cycles short, and someone notices a hairline crack where the arm bracket meets the steel frame. That crack is the part failing. We can usually have a technician out the same day to look at it, and the price is in writing before any torch gets lit.
Welding on a Ghost Controls gate is not a generic repair. The operator mounts to specific bracket geometry, and a weld that holds fine on a fence rail can put twisting force on the operator arm if it’s even a quarter inch out of position. That extra load shortens the life of the opener and the new weld both. We measure, fixture the part in place, and weld it square to how the operator actually travels. Nothing gets guessed at.
Which Ghost Controls Models This Applies To
Ghost Controls makes three operator families we see regularly in Henderson: the AXDP (single swing), the TDS2 and TSS1 heavy-duty kits, and the GTO/PRO series that predates the current branding. Each one uses a different post bracket and arm connection. The AXDP series uses a bolt-on pedestal bracket with a pin; the TDS2 uses a taller post mount that flexes more under load; older GTO/PRO units have a thinner bracket ear that’s more likely to crack where it wraps the post. If you open your opener box, the model number is printed on a white label on the underside of the housing, and it’s worth two minutes of your time to check it before calling us. It tells us which bracket geometry to bring.
On OEM versus aftermarket: Ghost Controls brackets are decent stamped steel, but they’re not exotic. For most broken post brackets and hinge plates, a properly gusseted steel replacement welded by someone who understands the load path will outlast the original. The exception is the actuator arm itself. That’s a machined assembly, not a weld repair. If the arm is bent or the worm drive inside is grinding, the part gets replaced, not re-welded. We carry the common Ghost Controls bracket sets and hinge plates on our trucks, along with raw stock and gusset plates when a custom reinforcement makes more sense.

Signs Your Ghost Controls Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- A crack at the post bracket or hinge weld. This is the most common failure in Henderson, where daily thermal swings from the desert heat make steel expand and contract against a post set in concrete. The crack starts as a thin line, usually at the top or bottom edge of the weld, and grows slowly. By the time the gate wobbles, the weld is fully separated.
- The opener arm jerks or “hitches” while moving the gate. A broken or cracked bracket lets the arm shift under load, and the operator compensates with a jerky motion. It’s not a smooth cycle anymore, even if the gate still opens. That hitch is metal flexing where it shouldn’t.
- The gate sags at the latch end. When a hinge plate or post bracket deforms, the whole gate tilts downward on the latch side. You might hear it scraping, or the latch no longer lines up with the receiver. The opener is doing more work every cycle, and it’s shortening its own life.
- The gate drifts or won’t hold position after closing. A broken weld at the bracket changes the gate’s resting geometry, which tricks the limit switches into stopping early or late. If the gate creeps backward after closing, the mechanical stops aren’t doing their job anymore.
- New noises: creaking, groaning, or a sharp popping sound. Creaking says a weld is cracked but not fully separated yet. A pop often means it just let go. Either way, our crew wants to see it before the bracket tears the bolts out of the post.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Most Ghost Controls weld repairs and bracket replacements in Henderson fall between $180 and $420 installed. Here’s how that breaks down:
- Post bracket replacement (single): $180 – $260
- Hinge plate replacement or reinforcement (each): $140 – $220
- Frame crack repair with gusset (per corner): $120 – $190
- Full gate re-hang and realignment after weld work: $200 – $320
- Actuator arm replacement (part, not weld): $160 – $340 depending on model
The range depends on how much of the gate has to come off to do the repair correctly, whether we’re welding in place or removing a panel to a bench, and how much grinding and prep the existing steel needs before a good weld will take. Every quote includes the part or material, labor, and cleanup. The written price you get before we start is the price you pay when we’re done. If anything changes mid-repair that affects the price, we stop and re-quote before continuing. No surprises on the invoice.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things without touching a welder: take photos of the crack from two angles, note where the gate sags, and mark the bracket with a pencil so you can see if the crack grows week to week. That helps our technician plan. What you should not do is attempt a weld repair yourself on a bracket that’s holding a moving gate. A Ghost Controls operator can push several hundred pounds of force through that bracket, and a weak weld that fails mid-cycle turns the gate into a very heavy moving object. Welders throw sparks that can damage an opener’s wiring or control board if the area isn’t properly shielded. If you’re not a trained welder with the right fixture setup, call us at (775) 210-7739 and we’ll come do it right.
FAQs
We typically see 8 to 12 years from a properly prepped and painted weld in the Henderson climate, assuming the gate is balanced and the opener’s force settings are reasonable. The two things that kill welds fastest out here are poor prep before the weld (rust, paint, dirt in the joint) and an opener that’s pushing too hard against a misaligned gate. We address both when we do the repair, which is why our weld work tends to outlast the original factory welds.
It depends where the break is and how much metal is left. A bracket cracked at one edge can usually be ground out, re-welded, and reinforced with a small gusset. A bracket that’s fully severed or has torn bolt holes is generally better replaced, because the steel around the failure has already fatigued. We’ll show you the bracket up close and explain which route makes sense before anything gets welded. Call (775) 210-7739 and we’ll give you an honest read.
A simple bracket weld is usually done in 90 minutes to two hours including cool-down, paint, and testing the gate through several open and close cycles with the opener connected. A full re-hang with multiple welds may take a half day. We’ll tell you the expected time when you call, and unlike a lot of jobs, the gate stays operational the whole time we’re working.
We stock the common Ghost Controls post brackets, hinge plates, and hardware, along with raw steel stock for custom brackets and gussets. We also carry parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and DoorKing since those share a lot of the same gate hardware territory. For unusual or older model brackets that aren’t on the truck, we can usually source them same or next day through our suppliers.
If your Ghost Controls gate is cracking, sagging, or making the opener work harder than it should, don’t wait for the bracket to let go entirely. Call us at (775) 210-7739 for a free estimate. We’ll come out, look at the gate, put a written number in your hand, and if you want the work done, we’ll do it with shoe covers on, drop cloths down, and a cleanup photo before we leave. That’s how every job goes, every time.
