We weld and fabricate DoorKing gate components in Henderson every week, and the typical job runs between $385 and $940 installed, depending on where the break is and how much material needs to be rebuilt. Most owners discover the problem the same way: a gate that used to swing silently now drags, squeals, or hangs at a slight angle. If you’re hearing metal grind against metal or seeing a crack spider-web across a hinge plate, that’s the part failing, and we stock or can fabricate the replacement for most DoorKing swing and slide gate models.
We’re an independent gate service, not affiliated with DoorKing directly. What that means for you is we make honest calls about when a part should be replaced versus when it makes more sense to weld it back to factory spec.
Which DoorKing Models This Applies To
Most of the welding and fabrication work we do in Henderson is on DoorKing’s 6000-series swing gate operators with matching steel or ornamental iron gates, the 9000-series slide gates, and the heavier Model 1601 and 1602 barrier arms. The exact part number matters less than the gate hardware you can’t always see: hinge plates, gate frames, fork brackets, and the mounting posts that carry all the weight.
Here’s a compatibility gotcha that catches Henderson owners off guard: DoorKing’s 6002 and 6003 operators use different fork bracket mounting patterns, and if your gate was installed before roughly 2015, the original bracket is likely a thinner gauge than what DoorKing ships today. When we fabricate a replacement, we match the new spec, not the old one. A lot of the “weld it and it’ll be fine” repairs we see out in Inspirada were done to the old measurements, and they fail again within a season because the bracket was undersized from the start. We don’t do that.
On the OEM versus aftermarket question: for structural pieces like hinge plates and fork brackets, a properly fabricated replacement made from 3/16-inch or 1/4-inch steel is equal to or better than OEM, especially in Henderson’s heat, where thinner factory brackets fatigue faster. For anything electronic or mechanical, like limit switches or drive belts, OEM is the only way to go.

Signs Your DoorKing Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags three or more inches at the latch end. This usually means the hinge welds or the hinge plate itself are failing. The gate is still working, but the weight is now concentrated on a smaller surface area, which accelerates the failure. The fix is re-welding or replacing the hinge plate, not just tightening bolts.
- You can see daylight through a crack near a weld joint. Henderson’s temperature swings make steel expand and contract daily, and weld fatigue shows up as hairline cracks first. If you can see it from three feet away, it’s already too late for a cosmetic fix.
- The gate shudders or jerks during the last few inches of travel. That’s often a bent or cracked fork bracket or chain idler mount, which throws off the operator’s alignment. The operator is overworking to compensate, which shortens its life.
- A new scraping sound appears only when the gate is moving. Metal-on-metal contact that wasn’t there before means something shifted. It could be the gate frame compressing around a failing weld, or a mounting plate that’s pulling away from the post.
- The gate stops mid-travel and reverses for no clear reason. DoorKing operators have sensitivity detection. If the gate’s structure is binding, the operator reads it as an obstruction. The operator often isn’t the problem when this happens, the gate geometry is.
None of these symptoms get better on their own. The longer a weakened weld carries the load, the more surrounding steel gets distorted, and the more the next repair costs.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Henderson, here’s what you can expect for DoorKing welding and fabrication work:
- Hinge plate re-weld (single leaf): $185 to $310
- Fork bracket replacement, fabricated: $225 to $410
- Gate frame crack repair and reinforcement plate: $340 to $620
- Full hinge replacement on an ornamental iron gate: $520 to $940
The range depends on how much material we’re replacing, whether the gate has to be removed and laid flat for the work, and whether we’re repairing one leaf or both. Every quote includes the steel, welding consumables, grinding and paint or rust treatment on the finished weld, and the labor to re-align the gate so the DoorKing operator isn’t fighting the geometry. The price you see in writing before we start is the price you pay when we finish. That’s the Cedarwell Care Promise, and it’s not optional on any job we do in Henderson.
Every weld and fabricated part carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the repair isn’t right, we make it right. No argument, no fine print.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s the honest version. You can check whether your gate is level with a four-foot carpenter’s level and whether the hinge bolts are snug, and you can photograph any cracks you see. What you shouldn’t do is attempt to weld a gate that’s already under tension or load. A gate that’s sagging has thousands of pounds of leveraged force concentrated at the failure point, and welding it in place with a consumer welder usually results in a brittle weld that fails worse than the original break. It’s also how people get hurt when the gate shifts mid-repair.
Most of the failed welds we see in Henderson were previously “fixed” by someone with a flux-core welder and good intentions. The repair we end up doing costs more than if the weld had never been touched, because we’re grinding out the bad bead before we can start. If the crack is cosmetic and the gate still moves cleanly, you can wait a few weeks. If the gate is sagging, dragging, or stopping mid-travel, call us at (775) 210-7739 and we’ll come look at it.
FAQs
A properly executed weld with the right material thickness and post-weld treatment lasts 10 to 15 years in Henderson’s climate, though the factory powder coat will likely need touching up before the weld itself fails. The welds that don’t last are the ones done over a dirty or fatigued surface without removing the original crack first.
If you’re deciding whether to repair or replace a gate that’s already had multiple weld failures, call (775) 210-7739 and we’ll give you a straight answer on which path costs less over five years.
It depends on the material thickness and how much of the original part is still sound. Hinge plates thinner than 3/16-inch are usually cheaper to replace than to re-weld, because thin steel warps during welding and the repaired plate won’t sit flat. Thicker brackets often just need a fresh weld and reinforcement plate. We’ll tell you which applies to your gate before any work begins.
Not sure what thickness your hinge plate is? We can measure it on site. Call (775) 210-7739 for a free estimate.
Most single-hinge or bracket jobs are completed in two to four hours on site, including removal, welding, grinding, paint, and re-alignment. Full gate frame repairs that require removing the gate and laying it flat usually take one afternoon. We’ll tell you the time window when we quote the job.
We work around your schedule, including quiet hours if there’s a sleeping kid in the house. Call (775) 210-7739 and we’ll find a time that works.
We keep the most commonly needed fabrication steel, hinge plates, fork brackets, and hardware on the truck for DoorKing 6000-series and 9000-series gates, along with OEM DoorKing electronics like limit switches, loop detectors, and radio receivers. For unusual vehicle barrier parts or legacy DoorKing hardware, we source it from our Henderson suppliers, usually within one to two days.
If you need a part matched to your exact DoorKing model, call (775) 210-7739 with the model number from the operator housing and we’ll confirm availability before you schedule.
We also stock parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls gate systems, so if you have more than one gate on the property, we can usually address everything in one visit.
If you have a DoorKing gate in Henderson with a failing weld, a cracked bracket, or a hinge that’s pulling loose, call (775) 210-7739 for a free estimate. We’ll give you a written price before any work starts, lay drop cloths and wear shoe covers if we need to step inside, and send you a photo of the clean-up before we leave. A gate that works quietly is one you stop thinking about, and that’s exactly the goal.
