We repair and replace Elite keypads and intercom modules all over Henderson, and most jobs run between $145 and $385 installed, depending on the model and what actually failed. We keep common Elite parts on the truck, so many calls are a same-day fix. The way most homeowners find us: the keypad lights up but the gate won’t open, or the intercom rings inside but you can’t hear who’s at the gate. You’ll get a written price before we touch anything.
If you’re reading this because your keypad works sometimes and not others, or the intercom crackles like a drive-thru speaker, you’re in the right place. This page covers the Elite-specific stuff most general repair sites skip: which models share parts, what fails first in desert heat, and what a fair repair actually costs in Henderson.
Which Elite Models This Applies To
Elite gate systems run through several model lines, and the keypad and intercom parts don’t swap freely across all of them. What we see most in Henderson: Elite SL3000 and SL5000 swing gate operators paired with the Elite AK series keypads, plus the older Elite MicroGuard and Sentinel push-button entry stations on HOA gates out near Inspirada and Anthem. If your keypad is a surface-mount box with a brushed-metal face and a blue backlit keypad, it’s likely an Elite AK-1 or AK-2. The newer flush-mount models, like the Elite K-10, use a different ribbon connector entirely.
The gotcha: an Elite keypad that looks identical from the outside might be wired for 12V DC on one operator and 24V AC on another. Grabbing the wrong one off a shelf and wiring it in anyway is a fast way to fry the keypad’s controller board. This is why we verify the operator model and voltage before recommending a replacement. For most Elite units, OEM parts make sense. For keypads specifically, we’ve had solid results with aftermarket equivalents that match the Elite mounting footprint and output protocol, which run $30 to $50 less than OEM. Intercoms are a different story: the Elite proprietary audio boards don’t cross over with any aftermarket part we’d trust, so we won’t install one.
Latch and Post Gate Repair Henderson is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Elite, but we stock and install Elite-compatible parts every week.

Signs Your Elite Keypad & Intercom Repair Is Failing
- Keypad beeps but the gate doesn’t move. This usually means the keypad is sending a signal but the relay isn’t closing, either because the relay contacts have pitted over time or the wiring between keypad and operator has corroded. We trace it before we replace anything.
- You have to press keys hard, multiple times, or at an angle. The membrane switches under the keypad buttons degrade faster in Henderson’s dry heat. The carbon contacts dry out and crack, which is why one button goes first, usually a number you use every day.
- Intercom rings inside but no audio, or a loud hum. The audio board on Elite intercoms picks up interference from the gate motor itself when a ground wire loosens. It’s typically a wiring repair, not a new intercom.
- The wrong keys light up, or the backlight flickers. A failing voltage regulator on the keypad board will do this. It sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t, which is when a lot of folks wonder if they’re losing their minds. They’re not.
- No power at the keypad at all. Before you assume the keypad died, we always check the low-voltage transformer at the operator. In hot months, those transformers cook. It’s an $85 fix if that’s the culprit, versus an unnecessary keypad replacement.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Expect a typical Elite keypad replacement in Henderson to run between $145 and $260 installed, depending on whether you need an OEM or equivalent part and whether we’re doing a simple swap or rewiring an older box. Intercom modules go higher, typically $210 to $385 installed, because the part itself is pricier and the wiring is more involved. If both the keypad and the intercom died from a single failure like a power surge, you’re looking at a combined range of $320 to $550.
Every quote we give is written before we start. That means you see the exact number, the part being installed, and your labor total. No “we’ll see how it goes.” Nothing gets added at the end. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise; if the repair isn’t right, we make it right, no argument.
DIY or Call Us?
Keypads and intercoms run on low-voltage power, so you’re not dealing with the kind of danger that comes with gate motors or high-tension springs. You can safely open the keypad housing and check for obvious damage: cracked keypad faces, corroded terminals, or a wire that’s pulled loose from its screw block. You can also confirm the operator’s breaker hasn’t tripped. What we’d ask you not to do is start crimping connectors or opening the operator to chase wires into the low-voltage terminals. Short the wrong line and you’re into a controller board replacement, not a keypad.
Cody Beckman, who leads our team here, has spent the better part of two decades on gate systems. He’d rather spend ten extra minutes tracing a short than hand you a part you didn’t need. If you’ve got a dead Elite keypad in Henderson, call (775) 210-7739 and a live person answers, day or night.
FAQs
In our experience, Elite keypads in Henderson typically last 6 to 10 years before the membrane contacts or the voltage regulator gives out. The desert sun and heat accelerate two things: plasticizing degradation on the keypad face and heat fatigue on the internal board.
Sometimes, but not often enough to count on it. If the failure is a loose wire, a corroded terminal, or a relay that can be replaced on the board, we’ll repair it in place and charge less. If the membrane itself is shot or the controller is dead, a replacement is the honest call. We’ll tell you which one you need before any work starts. Call (775) 210-7739 to set up a visit.
Most Elite keypad replacements on a standard swing gate take about 45 minutes on site, including testing the operator’s open and close cycles afterward. Intercom replacements run closer to 90 minutes because of the audio wiring tracing. We’ll give you the timeline when we provide your written estimate.
Yes. We carry common Elite keypad models and aftermarket equivalents, plus the low-voltage parts that fail most often: transformers, relays, and terminal blocks. We also stock parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls gates if you have more than one brand on the property.
A gate that works quietly is one you stop thinking about, and that’s exactly the goal. If your Elite keypad is giving you trouble, call us at (775) 210-7739 for a free estimate. We’ll answer in person, give you a straight answer on price, and if we come out, we’ll leave your property cleaner than we found it.
