We install LiftMaster access control systems in Henderson every week, and the installed cost typically runs between $850 and $2,400 depending on whether you need a single keypad at the driveway or a full telephone-entry system with vehicle detection. Most installations take one visit, and if your existing unit failed, we can often diagnose and swap it the same day we hear from you. The way most Henderson homeowners discover this problem is simple: the keypad stops reading codes, the phone entry won’t ring through, or the gate starts ignoring remotes it accepted last week. Sometimes a summer monsoon leaves the control board corroded, sometimes the keypad membrane cracks after years of direct desert sun, and sometimes the power supply just gives out quietly after a hard run.
Which LiftMaster Models This Applies To
Our technicians work on the full LiftMaster access control line, including the CAPXL, CAPXM, and older CAP2D telephone entry systems, the KPR2000 and KPR2000W keypads, the 86LM and 811LM receivers, and the LA500 and LA400 gate operators that these access systems tie into. If you open the cover on your keypad or control board, you’ll find a model number printed on a label inside, usually starting with “KPR” or “CAP.” The compatibility gotcha we see in Henderson is that older LiftMaster receivers run on 315 MHz while newer models shifted to Security+ 2.0 rolling-code technology, and they don’t talk to each other. So if you’re replacing just a keypad on an older system, you need the older-frequency part or you’ll be pairing it forever with no result. On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for LiftMaster we almost always recommend OEM boards and receivers because the rolling-code encryption is proprietary. Aftermarket keypads exist and work fine for basic gate triggering, but they rarely integrate with the smarter CAP systems the way a genuine LiftMaster part does.

Signs Your LiftMaster Access Control Installation Is Failing
- The keypad accepts the code but the gate doesn’t move. This usually points to a failed relay on the control board or a break in the low-voltage wire between the keypad and the operator. The keypad itself may be perfectly fine.
- The telephone entry calls your phone but you can’t buzz the gate open. The DTMF tone decoding on the CAP board has drifted or failed. You can hear it ring, you can hear the beep, but the open command never lands. This is a board-level failure, not a wiring issue.
- The screen or backlight is dead but the keypad still works blind. That’s a display or power supply failure inside the keypad. It’s common after several Henderson summers where surface temperatures on a south-facing pedestal can exceed 140 degrees.
- The system works intermittently, especially after wind or rain. We find loose terminal connections or moisture intrusion in the pedestal housing. Henderson’s dry heat bakes wire insulation brittle, then a monsoon storm finds every crack.
- The access system no longer recognizes any remote, even after reprogramming. The receiver board has failed or lost its memory. With Security+ 2.0 systems, a simple repower won’t fix it, and the part needs replacement.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Henderson, a straightforward LiftMaster keypad replacement runs $220 to $420 installed. A full telephone-entry system replacement with a new CAPXM board, housing, and programming lands between $850 and $1,500. Adding vehicle detection loops or upgrading to a system that ties into a smartphone app pushes the upper end toward $2,400. Your written quote includes the part, labor, programming of all existing remotes and codes, and confirmation that the gate operator and safety edges are working together. We hand you that number before any work starts, and it does not change unless you ask us to add something mid-job. Every access control installation we do in Henderson is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the system misbehaves within the year, we come back and make it right without re-quoting you. That’s the whole guarantee.
DIY or Call Us?
You can absolutely check the simple things yourself before calling: verify the breaker, confirm the keypad has power, and test whether the gate opens from its manual button or backup key. That tells us whether the problem is the access control or the gate operator itself, and it saves both of us time. What we don’t recommend is opening the control board housing and probing terminals. These boards carry 120V supply current, the capacitor can hold a charge even with power off, and one crossed wire can fry a board that cost $600 to replace. The high-tension side of gate automation is the operator and its springs, and those are genuinely dangerous if handled wrong. If your LiftMaster access system is down, call us at (775) 210-7739 and describe what you saw. Cody Beckman would rather spend ten extra minutes on the phone narrowing it down than send a truck out blind, and often we can tell you over the phone whether it’s likely a keypad, a board, or a wiring break.
FAQs
We typically see keypads and control boards last 5 to 8 years in Henderson’s heat, and telephone-entry systems go 7 to 10 years if they’re housed in a shaded pedestal. Direct southern sun exposure takes a real toll on plastic housing and membrane keypads.
Occasionally, yes. Corroded terminals can be cleaned, a failing relay can sometimes be replaced, and loose wiring can be re-secured. But with Security+ 2.0 encrypted systems, board-level logic failures usually aren’t repairable, and we’ll tell you straight if replacement is the honest call.
Most single-keypad or receiver replacements take 90 minutes to two hours on site. Full telephone-entry installations with new wiring and programming run three to five hours. We’ll give you a clear window when you book.
Yes. Our trucks carry LiftMaster-compatible keypads, receivers, and common CAP replacement boards, along with parts for Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing systems. If your exact model isn’t on board, we can usually get it within a business day.
If your LiftMaster access control is acting up in Henderson, call (775) 210-7739. A live person answers, day or night, and we’ll schedule a time that works for your family. You’ll get a written price before we turn a screw.
